#MYCRUKEEPSMEWARM (2021)
The initial Apocalypse Nude concept was created during a period of quarantine. Though significant in many ways, I felt it was time to start moving passed the narrative of isolation. This in mind, I reached out to @whatsthestitch_inc about a collaboration project, and we transferred each figure from canvas to crewneck.
I then reached out to those who purchased and asked them to share something they most cherished about winter. I often find myself and those around me dreading the bitterness of the cold, so I thought I’d use this opportunity to change the dialogue and create warmth through connection.
Alex and Rodin (2018)
There is something unspoken that comes through in sculpture. I believe it is the intensity of thought that was present at the time of the sitting. Though the muse may have posed in silence, their thoughts must have been loud. For this series, I instructed Alex, the model, to take her place beside each piece, hoping she might embody Rodin’s muse and bring forth their story.
