Marcia Bianchi is a contemporary figurative artist based in Toronto, Canada. Her work is inspired by the vivid hues of frescoes and the weathered surfaces of ancient sculptures. She uses colour, texture, and gesture, to create contemporary reinterpretations of historical Renaissance artworks. In doing this, she hopes to unearth a deeper connection to her Italian roots, engage viewers on both, visceral and intellectual levels, as well as, provoke audiences to contemplate ubiquitous psychological themes.
